Bill Wilby

To say Bill is involved with the credit union system would be an understatement. Bill was first elected to the gfcu Board in 2014 and has wasted no time becoming one of the most knowledgeable resources you’ll find at any credit union. He is currently the Vice Chair and has served on every gfcu Board Committee at some point. Currently, he sits on the gfcu Human Resources & Governance Committee, the Credit & Market Risk Committee, and the gfcu Audit and Operational Risk Committee. He is also the chair of this region's credit union peer group Executive Committee and is a director of the Stabilization Central Credit Union, which serves other credit unions and is focused on strengthening the system as a whole. Bill is also an accredited credit union director (ACCUD).

Having been self-employed for his entire working life, Bill brings a wide range of experiences to the board. He and his wife, Sandra, started and operated the Grand Forks business, Contact Photo Arts, which they sold in 2010. They now operate Strida Canada, an online folding bicycle sales business. With his entrepreneurial, change management, and technological experience, Bill provides modern diversity to the gfcu Board of Directors.

Sandra and Bill have two daughters: one is a software engineer living in Vancouver and one is an organic market gardener living in Grand Forks. In an attempt to enhance and expand local food systems, Bill also volunteers his time with the Kettle Valley Food Co-op.
