Since our inception almost 70 years ago, gfcu has been a strong supporter of the Boundary Community and its residents. Capital projects, partnerships, participation, donations and meeting place activities are too many to mention. Today, we are even more involved in and committed to supporting and enhancing quality of life in the Boundary.
gfcu Definition of Values-Based Banking (VBB)
Recognizing our connectedness and interdependency, VBB is our accountability for imbedding long-term ethical (including economic, social and environmental) considerations in our products, relationships, behaviors, decisions and how we conduct business every day. As a member and community engaged financial co-operative, we take a leadership role and use our resources to improve and leave better our members and communities.
Community Investment Program
The gfcu Board of Directors sets an industry leading standard of financial support for our annual community investment plan, currently marking 10% of the Credit Union’s estimated annual earnings before taxes and dividends. These resources are derived from a number of sources including:- gfcu’s Community Endowment Fund (administered by the Phoenix Foundation)
- gfcu operating income
- Post secondary scholarship endowment funds
- Employee charitable fund-raising activities
